Milo has been sick this week with croup. It’s so sad having a sick baby… and it makes me feel very lucky for having an otherwise healthy baby. It’s been a rainy and raw few days, and it finally seems dry out today. I’m excited to get outside for a little walk, and hoping that the fresh air will do us both good.
Last night, Laura and I went to B3 for dinner, a new Boston restaurant that is going to have live music from Berklee students 7 days a week. The food was yummy but the most exciting part is the live music! There are so many talented musicians at Berklee, and the city needs to see more of them. Excited for this addition!
The time seems to be going so fast these days. How is it April 5th already? In spirit of appreciating what’s happening right now, I’m taking stock of the things I’ve been up to lately…
Making: A mess? Ha! I don’t know… but that feels accurate. Milo is now crawling and is starting to bring his toys all over the house. I can’t complain, though. And the laundry… oh, the laundry…
Cooking: Honestly, not much. I was on such a cooking kick once we returned home from Japan, and it’s kind of fizzled. I’m sure the enthusiasm will come back, but it’s been a busy few days. We’ve mostly been eating homemade pizza (so good), lots of yogurt (yay for eating dairy again!), and lots of coffee. I recently bought this milk frother and it’s totally upped our french press coffee game. And these mugs are the best. The coffee stays warm for a long time and the mugs are so light! We used to have a few, but somehow we only have one left now, so this reminds me to pick up a few more.
Drinking: Chocolate milk! Matt and I can’t get enough. It’s so good. We’ve been buying the Organic Valley 2% chocolate milk from Whole Foods, and it goes faster than I’d like to admit. :)
Reading: I’m about to start a new book – thinking it might be this one, but always on the lookout for a good recommendation. I am so indecisive when it comes to choosing a new book to read. Why is it so hard to just settle on one? I’ve also been trying to catch up with some of my favorite blogs. What blogs are you reading these days?
Wanting: A massage, always. I’ve actually been going to physical therapy for some post-partum ab pain. It’s working wonders, but it also feels slightly relaxing. That might be weird, but I guess when you have a baby, any extra time to spend on yourself feels luxurious. Those 30 minutes of stretching feel so good.
Looking: At Milo with such wonder! Nine months is such a magical age. He just started crawling about two weeks ago and now he is practically walking. It’s insane, but also so amazing to watch him interact with his world in a total new way. He is growing so fast (a little too fast, in my opinion!) and I just can’t get enough of him.
Eating: Cereal! I cannot get enough. This one and this one have been on heavy rotation. I think it has to do with my craving calcium. I was never a big milk drinker but ever since I became pregnant, I’ve been finishing the milk in my cereal bowl. It’s so good.
Wishing: For time to move just a little bit slower. I’m sure that’s going to be a recurring theme around here! I would say that I was wishing for Milo to take the bottle — but it’s a miracle, and he all of a sudden decided to show interest again! It’s honestly so liberating.. and I just hope it lasts.
Enjoying: Having Matt around! After years of traveling for work, he has been home for awhile as he spends more time at the distillery — and Milo and I both love seeing so much of him.
Loving: Podcasts. I’ve been listening to so many inspiring ones lately. My favorites have been The Lively Show, The Marie Forleo Podcast, and of course This American Life. I find that I have less time to watch tv or read these days, but podcasts are so easy to listen to — whether I’m cooking, folding laundry, taking a walk, or in the car.
Needing: More exercise. I’m hoping to get back to a more regular yoga routine — I was so good for awhile. Plus, I’ve been wanting to get back to spin.
Feeling: Hopeful, calm, and excited for spring.
Wearing: Living in these jeans.
Bookmarking: So many things! I feel like I don’t have the time to catch up these days — but someday I’ll go through and read all those great articles sent my way!
What have you been up to?
