A Weekend in Provincetown

provincetown with a baby

The day after we returned from Bermuda, we hopped on the ferry (which is one of my favorite things about living in Boston) and headed down to Ptown. Matt’s uncle has a home in Ptown and we’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time down there.

He lives right on Commercial Street, but as the street becomes quieter and shops are replaced with beautiful homes and gardens. Now that our travels involve a baby, it’s nice to have a “home-base” where we can put down all of our stuff and just take it easy when we don’t feel like being out and about.

We celebrated my brother-in-law’s thirtieth birthday over the weekend, and mine too since my birthday was that Saturday. We were able to find a local babysitter for a celebratory dinner on Saturday evening. We went to Sal’s Place which is run by the owners of Pomodoro (if you are local, they have restaurants in the North End and Brookline). The food is outstanding (definitely order the eggplant parmesan) and the ambiance is unmatched. The restaurant is in an old house that sits on the water. There are paintings and candles, and you feel like you’re drifting off to sea as you drink wine and eat delicious Italian food. Matt’s uncle provides the restaurants with flowers from his garden. It is really a beautiful little spot. It is only open from July to Labor Day, so if you happen to be in Ptown in the summer months, be sure to check it out.

We also spent some time at the public pool, which was fun. The water was definitely on the cooler side but Matt was determined to enjoy it with Milo. I enjoyed french fries and a beer from the sideline. :)

We took many walks into town, which is a favorite way to spend the early mornings when everything is still so quiet. Although the jetty isn’t stroller-friendly, we took a stroll that way and enjoyed the beautiful views. Our trip was a tad too short for a visit to the beach sadly. Next time!

I’ve been using my DSLR so much these days, and it makes me so happy to be creative in this way. Plus, Milo is just so much fun to capture. I’m so happy to have these sweet photographs. It’s also really nice to be taking photos on a device that isn’t tied to the internet… do you know what I mean? Sure, I’ll share a lot of the images I take, but not in the moment. It feels so nice to disconnect and not have my phone on me all the time.

Ptown, we love you!
